Customers are encouraged to come up with their own scarecrow design and enter it in our competition. If you’d like to enter a scarecrow in the festival, you’ll need to deliver it to the Farm Shop before Saturday 25th May. We’re happy to receive entries throughout the week leading up to the event. Judging will be carried out by the customers!
To coincide with this year’s Scarecrow Festival, we’re also staging our first ever Scarecrow Ball. This will take the form of a family BBQ to tie in with National BBQ Week, which begins on Monday 28 May, with entertainment and a raffle in aid of local good causes. Fancy dress is a must! Tickets are priced at £30 for adults and £15 for ten to 16 year olds. They include a three-course meal, including a buffet-style BBQ for the main course. A limited number are available and they must be booked in advance. Telephone us on 01430 425079 for details.
Come and meet some of the food and drink growers and producers, and local crafts people, who supply Drewton’s Farm Shop.

Working with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Yorkshire Coast Nature, we’re excited to host a nature walk and photography workshop aimed at beginners. All participants will join us at 9.30am for coffee and bacon sandwiches, and to hear Nigel Puckrin talk about the stunning Red Kites that have made the Drewton Estate their home.
Those taking part in the walk will join our resident Estate Woodland Manager, Seth Crosswaite, and Tony Martin from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for a guided stroll through the estate and off the beaten track into areas not usually open to the public. Seth and Tony know the estate well and can show you all manner of wonderful wildlife. The walk will end with a buffet picnic-style lunch in the Shooting Lodge at 1pm. Tickets for the walk are priced at £35 per person, and include breakfast and lunch.
Those who would like to take part in the beginners’ photography course will explore different areas of the estate with good photography opportunities. This is a chance to take photographs in the afternoon light, as well as the morning light. In addition to breakfast and lunch, they will round off the day with a Cream Tea at Drewton’s Farm Shop, during which representatives of Yorkshire Coast Nature will view and comment on their photography skills. Tickets for the beginners’ Photography Workshop are priced at £50 per person. Call 01430 425079 or ask in store for details.
As above, but today’s photography workshop is for intermediates.
Join us for one of our popular Come Dine With Me evenings. For the first time, the entire, six-course menu will made using gluten-free ingredients. Call 01430 425079, ask in store or see our next newsletter for more information.
