The Estate

Katie Taylor opened Drewton's in October 2010 in the beautifully developed old farm buildings at Kettlethorpe Farm, located on The Drewton Estate which is owned by the Taylor family. A sympathetic restoration with attention for detail has been the basis of acknowledging the stories held within its walls and to emphasise the buildings' features.

Set within 1,200 acres of arable land with two working farms, the Estate is on the edge of the Wolds Way and is a paradise for ornithologists and walkers. It has a reputable pheasant and partridge shoot which attracts shooting parties from all over the UK and abroad, and we encourage beekeeping to help pollinate the crops and, in turn, produce delicious honey.

In 1999, the Yorkshire Red Kite Society introduced a reintroduction and protection programme, which was instigated by the Nature Conservancy Council (now known as Natural England in England) and the RSPB, ensuring a bright future for these magnificent birds of prey. The Drewton Estate was proudly chosen as a suitable location, and it has been hugely successful. We are thrilled to welcome new chicks every year, which you may see soaring across the sky above you with our resident buzzards and goshawks on your visit.

With numerous footpaths and bridleways, beauty spots and views to die for, The Drewton Estate is the epitome of rural English splendour. Rolling hills, grazing cattle, wild flowers, the sighting of the odd wild deer and the trickling of a waterfall add to the endless beauty we are proud to share.

Encouraging others to enjoy the experience of the Estate, Drewton's also has two beautifully furnished five-star rated holiday cottages nestled within the grounds, enjoying use of the tennis court as well as access to The Drewton Retreat for pure indulgence pamper packages and Red Kite Fitness, also based on-site, offering Nordic walking instruction and advice.

Since 2004 the Taylor family has maintained and restored various buildings, lakes and walls, along with the installation of a biomass boiler. This forms part of an ongoing renewable energy programme that encourages self-sufficient, environmentally-efficient power generation utilising wood from the Estate to generate heating and hot water. As part of the diversification programme to restore old farm buildings, there are now offices and beautiful residential dwellings to let, as well as the luxury holiday cottages.
